PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS 2000-2010
*Program Description and **Ranking Criteria APG -Analytical Products Group (Belpre, Ohio) "Laboratory of Excellence" Laboratory Benchmarking System. This is a quarterly program that began in October, 1994 and was the first that provided a means of benchmarking laboratory performance. Samples are analyzed as "single blind" PE samples. The Acceptance range falls within the 99% confidence level of the mean of all reporting laboratories. EPA WS -U.S. EPA's Water Supply Performance Evaluation Study. A regulatory requirement for Laboratory Certification for the analysis of Drinking Water under the Safe Drinking Water Act. The "Acceptable" range is set by regulation, either a fixed percentage or a statistical 95th percentile sampling based upon the true result of data generated by government-operated laboratories. Setting the acceptance criteria based upon the true value does not allow for any built-in method bias. The WS Performance Evaluation Samples are the most difficult to successfully analyze because by definition, if you are among the very best government labs and are doing everything correctly, your data should be Acceptable 95 times out of 100. EPA WP -U.S. EPA's Water Pollution Performance Evaluation Study. It is primarily used to establish a laboratory's ability to generate accurate data for regulatory compliance under the Water Pollution Control Act. Acceptable performance is a 99% prediction interval calculated from government-operated laboratory data, which tends to correct for method bias. This table contains all EPA WS, EPA WP, USACE, APG, and ERA evaluations for approximately the past ten years.
